GODZILLOWEEN - Rodan
Rodan (Showa)
Rodan is fairly noteworthy in that he actually has his own standalone film! And not a film that turned out to be the plot twist "Surprise! This was Godzilla 2, actually" that Godzilla Raids Again originally was, which ended up being a cruel joke at Anguirus' expense.
Continuing the giant dinosaur trend, Rodan is a giant pteranodon, though having more considerably bird-like features, especially with its face. Ability-wise he isn't that exciting either, though he would eventually be able to have his own laser heat beam unlike poor Anguirus. Though this would lead to Rodan having a growing association with fire.
Rodan (Heisei)
Heisei ran with that, inventing "Fire Rodan". This incarnation otherwise comes with the usual sleekness you'd expect with near-millenium suit design, especially noticable with his head being a bit less lumpy-looking. A little less like a thumb with a bird beak stuck to it. As much as I like the cornier years of Godzilla, this look is definitely a better fit for Rodan here.
Rodan (Monsterverse)
Rodan in the Monsterverse spruced him up quite a bit. He's now both even more overtly bird-like, and even more fiery than the 90s-dubbed "Fire Rodan", with an undercurrent of fiery lava-like texture just beneath the skin of his wings. All the cooler when he emerges from an erupting volcano and shows with all those cinders and ashes coming off his body along with the sonic boom of him flying over head showing that all he has to do to wreck a city and choke it to death is fly over it, at least making this version of Rodan far more conceptually frightening!
