Anguirus
The first of many Kaiju that aren't Godzilla is one that is often referred to as Godzilla's "best friend" and his most consistent ally, Anguirus. Though in his original appearance in Godzilla Raids Again, he was actually killed by "Gigantus" (aka Godzilla), which almost certainly sets the tone for Anguirus as a character.
He got better though, and would later be a regular across various Godzilla films, albeit usually portrayed as at least a little bit helpless in the face of many of the monsters his much more popular BFF has to contend with. Not to say he doesn't have his fair share of moments, but it's not hard to understand where the jokes come from when Anguirus' sole role in "Vs. Mechagodzilla" was to get his ass kicked by Mechagodzilla in disguise and then vanish for the rest of the film.
Design-wise, he's most certainly named for his visual similarities to an ankylosaurus, with an exaggeratedly spiky armadillo shell-like backside, rhinoceros horn, and array of horns sprouting and turning forward from the back of his skull. Perhaps amusingly, he doesn't seem to have any exceptional abilities. At least, citedly, being really durable. It's to a point where the Godzilla fighting games from the 2000s basically had to give him some form of energy attack to not be completely outclassed by everyone else who has a ranged energy attack, so they gave him the ability to scream really loudly. Which hey, realistically, a creature that large screaming loudly WOULD just kill normal-sized fauna from the sound waves alone. Thing is, any creature that big could probably do that. Oh well, at least he can roll around in a ball.
